MIAMI and PARIS, April 6, 2026 — Sauvegarder Investment Management (“SIM IP”), a global intellectual capital firm that actively acquires, structures, and creates liquidity for intellectual capital assets, deploying its own capital, is pleased to announce that Ehsan Najafabadi, Ph.D. has joined the firm as Vice President, further strengthening its capabilities at the intersection of intellectual property and advanced semiconductor technologies.

Najafabadi brings deep technical expertise across semiconductor devices, memory architectures, and processor systems vital to modern platforms like datacenters, combined with a track record of executing IP strategy at scale. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Georgia Tech, where his research focused on optical semiconductor technologies, including photonic devices and optoelectronic integration including hands-on fabrication.

He most recently spent several years at Samsung Semiconductor as senior IP Manager, operating across one of the industry’s most sophisticated patent portfolios spanning DRAM, NAND, advanced packaging, and compute architectures. His work centered on isolating enforceable positions within complex system stacks, aligning claim scope with real-world silicon implementations, and supporting licensing outcomes against leading semiconductor manufacturers and hyperscale platforms.

His prior experience includes roles at Eversheds Sutherland and a prominent boutique IP law firm, where he drafted patents for top technology companies while conducting technical analysis across semiconductor, cloud infrastructure, and networking systems.

At SIM IP, Najafabadi will play a key role in expanding the firm’s portfolio acquisition and licensing programs, with a particular focus on high-value hardware and deep-tech assets. He will also work closely with SIM IP’s AI-driven platform to accelerate technical analysis, automate claim mapping, and systematically surface enforcement-grade opportunities across complex hardware and systems-level patents.

The firm’s continued investment in technical depth and automation is aimed at one outcome: increasing precision, compressing execution timelines, and systematically extracting value from portfolios that others misprice or overlook.

“Ehsan is exactly the kind of talent that separates a real platform from a patent shop — deep technical credibility, serious licensing experience, and the instincts to operate at the highest level,” said Erich Spangenberg, CEO of SIM IP. “We’re building something different at SIM IP, and he knows it.”

Najafabadi added “I’ve spent my career operating at the intersection of semiconductor technology and IP strategy. What SIM IP is building introduces a level of technical rigor and execution speed that materially changes how portfolios are evaluated and how licensing dynamics play out — particularly in areas like memory, processors, and advanced fabrication. I’m excited to help accelerate and move the needle with the team.”
