Miami, Florida and Oulu, Finland – April 30, 2026 — Sauvegarder Investment Management, Inc. (“SIM IP”), a global intellectual capital firm that actively acquires, structures, and creates liquidity for intellectual capital assets, deploying its own capital, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Capricode’s patent assets underpinning over‑the‑air device management technologies. This marks SIM IP’s third acquisition from a Finnish innovator and deepens its focus on foundational IP that powers connected infrastructure at scale.
The newly acquired portfolio includes over 50 patent assets encompassing patented methods and systems enabling centralized, secure, and automated management of connected device fleets, including OTA updates, provisioning, monitoring, and cybersecurity controls across automotive, industrial IoT, and secure communications environments. These technologies are designed to integrate devices flexibly into back-end platforms and services, and automating device management operations throughout the full connected device lifecycle.
The acquisition reinforces SIM IP’s strategy to acquire and monetize high-value patents powering modern connectivity. Building on recent deals in networking, cloud, XR, and IoT, it strengthens SIM IP’s position as a global IP monetization partner.
“Our agreement with Capricode advances our mission to unlock value from category-defining IP and proudly continues our strategy of partnering with Finnish innovators to build transparent, efficient licensing programs that reward invention and enable fair market adoption,” said Jennifer Burdman, Managing Director at SIM IP.
“Category infrastructure IP belongs with an operator who can monetize it responsibly at scale,” said Erich Spangenberg, CEO of SIM IP. “This acquisition complements our recent expansions in IoT and networking, and we will invite early, business-friendly licenses before deploying the more assertive tools that have delivered results for partners across our portfolio.”
“Our team built SyncShield to make connected device operations dependable—secure, policy-driven, and automatic,” said Jonny Kaarlenkaski, Co-Founder and CEO of Capricode. “Partnering with SIM IP gives these inventions the commercial reach they deserve while keeping a clear path for adopters to license and get on with building.”
