Veteran patent strategist will help strengthen prosecution, portfolio quality, and monetization discipline across SIM IP’s global platform

MIAMI and PARIS, March 16, 2026 — Sauvegarder Investment Management (“SIM IP”), a global leader in intellectual property-based financing, investment and monetization, today announced that Cheryl Milone has joined the firm as Managing Director and Global IP Strategy Officer. Milone brings more than 30 years of experience as a global IP strategist, attorney, engineer, inventor, author and entrepreneur, most recently at Goldman Sachs as a Managing Director, Global Engineering IP Strategy and IP Honor, Engineering.

In her role with SIM IP, Milone will apply global IP strategy to ongoing prosecution, with a focus on building the highest-quality claims for pending and new applications across SIM IP’s portfolios. Her work will align claim development with third-party technology and market developments. As a result, SIM IP’s portfolios will be continuously optimized for quality, positioning them for enhanced, disciplined, timely monetization on an ongoing basis.

Milone joins SIM IP as the firm scales its multi-strategy IP investment platform, delivering flexible, outsourced monetization solutions that are unmatched. SIM IP approaches IP as a long-term partnership, combining deep operating and monetization expertise with analytics that help deliver faster, more actionable answers and value for patent owners and investors, including building additional value through prosecution.

“Cheryl brings exactly the kind of judgment, rigor, and credibility SIM IP wants at the center of its monetization strategies,” said Erich Spangenberg, CEO and Co-Founder of SIM IP. “She understands that quality matters more than raw patent counts, and she knows how to translate prosecution strategy into durable asset value. Cheryl has spent her career honoring inventors and creators while building business-aligned IP programs, and that makes her exceptionally well-suited to help SIM IP strengthen portfolios on a continuing basis and realize additional value from the best innovations.”

Milone added, “I am thrilled to join SIM IP at a time when global patent markets are creating meaningful opportunities for disciplined, commercially effective IP strategy. My career has centered on protecting innovation by honoring inventors and creators and aligning IP with business objectives. SIM IP offers a rare opportunity to bring global IP monetization directly into ongoing prosecution. By continuing to build the highest-quality claims in SIM IP’s portfolios, SIM advances IP protection to its next phase of profit.”

Most recently, Milone in her role as a Managing Director, Global Engineering IP Strategy and IP Honor, Engineering at Goldman Sachs, after 4 years of scaling the firm’s patent applications for artificial intelligence from one annually to one monthly, for the first time in Goldman’s history, registering copyrights for software and filing design patents, and launching IP Honor to recognize the firm’s outstanding patent inventors. The IP Honor program will continue as part of Goldman’s recognition of inventors across its global offices, and business and engineering divisions. Earlier in her career, she founded Article One Partners, a startup focused on evaluating patent quality, for which in 2010, Milone was recognized by the White House as one of the Top 50 Most Innovative U.S. CEOs. She is the primary inventor on three granted patents and nine filed patent applications associated with AOP.
